My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Florida

Cop ran my plates, discovered I had an expired license(over 4 months), and pulled me over. With no other infractions, I was given a notice to appear for the license violation, but told if I simply renew my license and present it to the judge/clerk then no points or fees will be assessed. Is this true? This seems to conflict with everything I've read online, mostly saying an automatic two points will be assessed to my license, in addition to fines. But the cop said otherwise- "it'll be like I never even pulled you over. No points, no fines, no nothing...". My driving record is spotless, mind you. Please help. Thanks.
