My question involves child support in the State of: Texas
my husband pays cs for a disabled child who age 25. tx allows support for adult disabled children. except i found out last summer this child is not as disabled as we were led to think. for 20 years we were told this child basically lives in the hospital and would never be able to work or provide for themself. the courts never wanted proof, they just took the mom's word. we always had problems getting the mom to give up this child for our court ordered visitations and were told she was to ill to be moved. this past summer I hired a pi. he has videoed this child driving, going out with friends, and even has her saying she doesn't have to work because her dad pays child support. her disability is medical/health related and receives ssi and free medical. there was a reunion last summer, this was when we found out about all this. the disabled child and mom weren't there but everyone else was. someone was talking about their child support and my husband mentioned he still pays then family started talking. they even said this child makes no attempt to take care of her health (take her medications) and that her doctors are even getting frustrated with her. do we have a chance to stop or at least reduce cs? or should we just let this be?
