Default How to "Serve" Discovery Request to Prosecutor in King County Redmond Washington

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of Washington at Redmond, WA, King County. Procedural Guide to Traffic Tickets in Washington State says that I must SERVE the discovery request on the prosecutor and FILE a copy with the court. How do I serve the request to the prosecutor exactly? Do I mail it or have to go some place? Same questions about the file a copy with the court.

I have searched the web and this forum but I haven't found any answer. The prosecutor's web page and district court web pages don't have any instructions. And the notice of hearing that I have received only says I must make the request in writing, but does not say where or how to make this request.

    I greatly appreciate any help.

If you had downloaded the form in the link contained in the "Procedural Guide", you would have found these instructions:

You must serve this on the prosecutor and file a copy with the court. Call the Clerk of the Court and ask for the address of the Prosecutor's Office. I usually print three copies. I hand carry all three to the prosecutor's office. Have the clerk/receptionist date/time stamp ALL THREE copies. Leave one for the prosecutor. Take the two remaining copies to the Court Clerk. Have them date/time stamp BOTH copies. Leave one with the clerk. Your copy now contains the 'proof of service' in case you don't receive the discovery materials. If you're too far away, you can also send them CRRR (or just mail them -- but it's safer to have a 'proof of service').

Oh, I missed that. Thanks! I'll call the court on Monday.

You're in luck. Redmond's layout makes it very simple to file discovery in about 5 minutes flat. The prosecutor's office is on site, less than 300 feet away from the court. If you are looking at the front door of the court, the prosecutor's office is behind you and to your left at the police department building. Go to the opposite end of that building, inside to the window and tell them that you would like to file a discovery request with the prosecutor's office. Have them stamp all three and keep one, take the other two back over to the court building, have the clerk stamp both copies and file one. You keep the last copy as proof of service. Your best bet is to show up at about 10:00 AM so you are not standing in any lines.
