Just offered a position

I was just offered a great job with a major healthcare company as a sales rep. Equipment not drugs. I have not filled out any application as of yet but today via phone they said i would have to take a drug test and that they will do a criminal background check to "make sure i havent committed any crimes". he said this jokingly and did not ask me the question.

so my question is can they rescind the offer if i have never lied about it?

my federal background will show conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute.

doesnt federal law prohibit employers from discriminating against felons?

please let us know what happens to your job hunting if you got the job or not... im pretty sure a lot of people like me who were in your shoes would like to know the outcome...goodluck!

Federal law does not prohibit employers from considering your criminal record as part of the hiring process.

well the application did ask so i was truthful. i have a start date of august 1st so i should hear something definite in the next few days i would hope.

the application did state that if you had a felony it did not immediately exclude you from being hired.
