Default Person Alleges I Harassed Her Blog by Clicking on Ads

My question involves defamation in the state of: Oregon

So there is the blogger who lives in the same city as me and for whatever reason her and her husband felt that I was offending them because I simply mentioned on Twitter that my blog got more traffic. They then wrote some really insulting posts about how people who market their websites or try to promote their sites are assholes and douches. I tried to comment but they rejected my comment on their blog.... My comment was not abusive or offensive in nature but was simply along the lines of "Maybe you should not judge all marketers as one" anyways I e-mailed the owner of the blog and calmly asked if somehow my being a competitor had offended them and they responded nastily and two weeks later I get a call from a police officer who says "so and so" has reported me for harassing their blog.

I was dumbfounded and asked the officer how I allegedly "harassed" a blog and she said that the complainant indicated I had "clicked on ads on her site to much" I told the officer that I had never clicked on ads on the individuals site and even if I did that I highly doubted that would meet the legal definition of harassment.

This same blogger is still making indirect attacks on me by posting comments trying to mock me without mentioning my name but using phrases and characteristics to describe me.

I'm confused how to proceed since obviously they were able to convince a police officer that clicking on a advertisement on a public blog is a crime. I feel defamation is occuring and the other party is abusing the justice system by filing such a frivilous and false report.

Notably I did file a complaint with a police review commision against the officer who called me because the demeanor she presented herself seemed to be intended to intimidate me. I would hire an attorney and pursue options but obviously that is costly and I cannot afford such is there anything I can due legally to remedy this issue without hiring an attorney or filing a defamation suit?

    Quick question.

Are you absolutely sure that you were contacted by police?

The quick answer to your question however, is that this does not come close to a defamation suit. Simply ignore the comments and move along.

what did they do to defame you? So far I'm not seeing anything.
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.

Yeah it was a police officer she left a voicemail I called her back on her city issue cellphone to figure out what she was on about. I filed a complaint with a police review board against the office a week ago simply because the office was being intimidating and trying to threaten to arrest me for harassing a blog by clicking on links which I never did and totally is not in the scope of any criminal statute.

Sadly when I called some superior officers in my precinct they too were dumbfounded and suggested filing a complaint against the officer but the problem I have is that this young couple is disgruntled to the point of absurdity and if they some how convinced a rookie patrol cop to call and say that stuff then what else can this loose cannon couple do? Its at the point where its becoming disturbing and worrying myself and my significant other.

Calling a member of law enforcement and telling them I'm harassing their "blog" and convincing a officer of such to the point that officer finds it within her duties to call and intimidate me and threaten me with possible arrest. Mind you their police report is public record so I assume that its close to defamation if someone is lying about you to law enforcement to try and use them as a method to ridicule, distress or even intrude on your life.

I don't see either case actually getting anywhere in court.
Your sentence(s) would more than likely be to have no further contact with the defendant/pursuer.
Unless s/he wishes to spend thousands on a lawyer who specializes in said case.

as long as they were truthful on their complaint, there is no defamation.

If you believe they have filed a false complaint, you need to address that with the police. Filing a false complaint is a criminal issue.
