Unhappy Mold and Other Issues in Apartment

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Michigan

I have MS and have been getting chronic infections over the last several months, once treatment stops, they come back.

I lived in apt. B for 4 months and everyone that came in said it smelled musty.
Moved 4 feet over to apt. A, been here 3 years.

Neighbor in apt. b has reported due to a missing piece towards the outside, roof area, their entire length of one wall (we share a wall) has wet/moldy walls.

LL's boyfriend tells them he can't contain the leak until spring (?)

Had them spray household bleach on it, came back this week and painted it with kilz (inspections soon).

Snow doesn't get removed (per lease), dumpster hasn't been dumped in months, both because of the claim "don't have the money"

I can NOT move at this time. I want it repaired. Can't the source of the leak be contained in the Winter? It is going to be thawing big time this next week.

Can they take action against me if I report these issues?

I'am friends with ll and family. Not sure anymore since I demanded a foot plus of snow was removed. They have a business on same property. They have the YARD PLOWED but will not plow ours, which would take less than 5 minutes/passes to do. The tenants wind up having to shovel, salt, etc. We've all tried to show LL mercy because of the financial predicament they are in. HOWEVER when it starts effecting the health of people.

Note on apt w/mold. Tenant who has lived there less than six months has had migraines for weeks.

Of the 4 units, this person and myself are the only ones with health issues. My apologies for so much info. Thank you for your time.

Mold and mustiness in Apartment B doesn't automatically translate into any mold penetration into Apartment A.

We have no way of telling you what the problem with the roof is or what will be involved in repairing it.

If you complain to housing authorities about the condition of the housing, you should be protected against retaliatory eviction. MCL 600.5720. But nobody here can guarantee you that your landlord won't attempt to terminate your tenancy at the first lawful opportunity or, for that matter, that he won't retaliate.

When you say "Snow doesn't get removed (per lease)" do you mean that the lease states that tenants must remove the snow?

All of the doctors and hospital have told me it can, once mold is there, the spores grow rapidly. My infections are staph which immediately come back after treatment stops. Staph from what I understand is a bacteria that CAN come from mold. I'm getting so many conflicted guesses, ugh.

Well sure, I realize that. However, I guess my concern is that they are bandaging and covering up the problem and not containing the source. Even if it had to be tarped in the winter, something!

Everyone (doctors, hospital, caseworker, etc.) have been informed. I don't want to have to report it but then if upcoming tests show a problem, I don't want to be sick from it either. My immune system is already compromised making me weaker.

The lease says LL must remove snow and maintain parking areas and walkways, etc. WE have taken mercy on them due to the claim of "no money to do these things" and done it ourselves. If we hadn't, we wouldn't be able to get out our doors let alone anywhere else.

    Thank you for advice.
