Default How to Find an Incarcerated Minor or His Criminal Records

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Idaho.

I'm a minor, and so is he. He was charged (I believe) with sexual molestation of my younger sister and incarcerated somewhere in Idaho, a rehabilitation center I think.

There is a no contact order, but I want to find him. He is my step-brother, after all, and the one person I was closest to living with my abusive mother and his 'roid raging father. We (my younger brother and sister and I) aren't supposed to have any contact with him until we're eighteen, as far as I understand.

Is there any way around that? Like. I don't know. A way to have a supervised visit, or writing him a letter or something? Would I be able to at least find out what facility he's staying in?

If not, can I at least see his criminal records? Court dates?

    Please and thank you.

Default How to Find My Offender Criminal Records

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Idaho.

I'm a minor. Almost seventeen years old.

From a very young age, I was sexually molested by my then step-father over a period of about ten years. I spoke up at the age of six or seven, but nothing was done and he wasn't charged with anything, I don't think. I was sent to a counselor, a therapist, and was talked to by a whole bunch of cops and everything. He continued living with us.

About a year and some months ago, my younger sister tested positive for a certain STD that he has had the signs of in the past. He is a wildfire ranger though, and was not available for testing so nothing really happened there.

My younger brothers, younger sister, and I were put in foster care for a short time.

Soon after, my mother met a new guy. He had a son, who I got close to personally. We were best friends, kept each other sane through my mother's neglect and abuse, and his father's cocaine addiction. He is now incarcerated for the molestation of my younger sister, the only evidence that he also tested positive for the same STD and was alone with her for a matter of about an hour.

What I'd like to know is, is it possible for me to find my offender's (my then step-father's) records? Can I find out if there was anything filed when I was younger? I'm looking for any records of his past crimes, crimes that he may have been exonerated, found innocent of, current cases, etc.

I do know that he is in prison, for a crime unrelated to me or my family. Awhile after my mother divorced him (leaving her with their son) he followed a woman back from the bar and beat and raped her while her children were in the home. This may have happened in Oregon or Idaho, as I only get pieces of information from listening to my mother.

I'm now "safe" and so are my siblings. We live with our biological father and none of these crimes are still going on. I'm just looking for a way to find out what happened or what was done.

So, again, what I'd like to know is this: is it possible for me to find my offender's (my then step-father's) records? I only know his first and last name, approximate age, and a few other small pieces of personal information about him. Can I find out if there was anything filed when I was younger? I'm looking for any records of his past crimes, crimes that he may have been exonerated, found innocent of, current cases, etc.

The courts have already ordered that you not have any contact with him. Trying to do such is a violation of that order, period. You can't send him a letter, ask someone else to send a letter, visit, or in any manner contact, or attempt to contact him. If you think it's unfair you'll have to petition the courts to lift the ban.

As far as finding where he is, it will be almost impossible through the legal system. Maybe a family friend knows. The facility won't give out his information, and you are not going to be granted access to look at his juvenile record, they are sealed.
