Default Savings Bonds and Child Support

I want to include my huband's name on my Savings Bonds. If I am the primary owner of the Bond and he is a P.O.D. will they consider that as income when I am the primary owner?

If the bond is designated as "payable on death", he would not have any interest in the bond until your death and thus it would not normally be considered his asset (during your lifetime). If it could be demonstrated that he was giving you the money to buy the bonds, that could change.

We have seperate checking accounts and I pay for them out of my checking. I have the copy of the checks to prove it.

    My response:

Yes, the court and/or the county will consider the amounts as money available to your husband when he is in "arrears."

Your can obtain and fill out a Bond Change Name form here:
