Domestic Violence Charge, First Time Offense

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida

The other evening there was an incident involving my girlfriend and I. She called the police because she was afraid of me. We had been drinking and we had been fighting. The police showed up, and all was well until they noticed a scab had opened up on the end of her finger and was bleeding.

Neither of us made sworn statements. The police report allegations according to her are false and a bit embelished. She is not going to press charges and she isn't going persue anything further. I stayed quiet and let them take me in.

I have hired an attorney, but obviously I am scared beyond words, and would like some advice or insight to calm me down.

Listen to your lawyer. This is has serious implications. It's not up to her. The prosecutors are disinclined to abandon DV cases just because the victim recants. Even if you didn't cause the injury, the fact that you threatened her is still assault.

Thank you for the reply, this obviously is not the answer I was looking for, but thank you.

I am looking through at it with rose colored glasses. My lawyer seemed to think it will be okay, and it should work out. I am just reading too much I suppose.
