    Default Red Foot Marks

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Pennsylvania

Two weeks ago we had 3 replacement windows installed in our home. After the contractor had left, I discovered 25 red smudged foot printlike marks that were on the linoleum kitchen floor, then through the living room, on the carpet stairs treads, across the 2nd story room at the top of the stairs then into the room where 2 of the windows were replaced. I could not figure out what they were and how they got there. Some are clearer than others. I photographed them. I tried to clean some on the carpet, but the goo-gone smudged the rug. There was NO painting done. There is a very large coco matt at the door 3ftx6ft to wipe feet. No red is on the surface of the concrete porch. It makes no sense. I have a hunch what is behind it. The window seller was contacted, they hired the contractor, with photos and a request for an explanation of how and why they got there.

    We suspect it was intentional.
How do we proceed in getting accountability?

    Thanks

from what you have said, you have no proof of who it was and only speculation as who it might be.

do you even know what that offending material is?
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.

The marks were not there before the workers arrived and were there when they left. How is that speculation? I don't know which worker is responsible.

I have not idea what the offending material is-is it petroleum base or organic. We are trying to find out what it is and how and why it got there. The only thing that makes any sense is that it was intentional.

Why is that the only thing that makes sense? Are you saying these contractors DELIBERATELY stepped in some material and DELIBERATELY tracked it through your house? To what end?

In which case the motive would be what? Any ideas?

Does anything else make sense to you? The contractor boss said something to me before he left which could provide a motive for intent. The contractor and crew were rather hostile from the get go. The Window salesmen provided the contractor.

Do you have any possible logical explanations for the 25 rug smudges that makes sense ? Just wondering. The direction of the foot print (it is right foot print) faces in the house. It someone had something on their sole while entering the house and they crossed the 6 feet of coco mat, it would have dissipated and not continued for an addition 24 marks.
I am trying to make sense of what the marks are even composted of.

It makes no sense to me that somebody would deliberately put red footprints on your flooring. You seem to believe that's the case, so it seems reasonable to ask why you believe somebody would do that? We only know what you tell us.

The last time I had a contractor in the house, he tracked dirt through the house. Not deliberately, he just didn't stop and wipe his feet on the way in. Did his job, just wasn't conscientious about keeping muck off my floors. Why are you so certain that such wasn't the case for your situation?

It still makes no sense to me. I didn't hire the contractor directly. I only connected the dots for intent or motive as a possibility because nothing else makes sense. There is a bigger story here that gives relevancy to intent which I am not that comfortable sharing with strangers. I was just looking for ideas on how to deal with what we believe may be vandalism.

If you believe you are the victim of a crime, you may go to the police and make a report of the incident.
