Default Accepted Job Offer and Completed Training - Can They Still Rescind the Offer

I have a question. About 5 years ago I was convicted of 2 felony drug crimes. Long story short I needed 2 years of reconstructive surgery after a motorcycle accident and had an addiction to pain killers. I know what I did and accepted my punishment and moved forward with my life. I recently interviewed for a job and told the initial interviewer about my situation. He said since it was so far back everything would be fine. After the second interview and getting the job offer I received a request for a copy of my ID and was told upon completion of a backgroung and drug screen they would move forward with my paperwork, I never signed a consent. I already finished my week long training and I am out in the field. I showed up in their outsourced payroll system too. Just wondering if they could still rescind the offer and if I would have a leg to stand on because the crime has nothing to do with my occupation. Thanks for any help. I know the interviewer is not HR and worried his "it's not a problem" is really a big problem. Thanks in advance.[/SIZE]
