Re: License Suspended After Pleading No Contest for First Time Speeding Ticket

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: CA
I appeared on court to ask the judge/commissioner if my speeding ticket fine can be reduced. The officer clocked me at 91 on a 65mph zone. After I pleaded no contest, the commissioner asked me "anything else" so I asked for the reduction. All he said was that my driver's license is suspended for 30 days and I still have to pay the full amount.
I don't understand why he has to suspend my license for a month when I could have just paid it straight. This is my first ever speeding ticket and first traffic citation in more than 4 years. Is it possible to appeal his decision?
Something I just learned the other day... Pursuant to CVC section 13200, the judge has the authority to suspend your license (for up to 30 days for a 1st offense) if you're convicted of a speed related infraction. So an appeal won't do you any good!
I am right 97% of the time... Who cares about the other 4%!
