My question involves a child custody case from the State of: TEXAS
My husband and I have his 1 year old nephew living with us. We picked him up from his negligent father's house after his mother's most recent incarceration (at her request). She has yet to call us to check on him, and she has been out of jail for 2 weeks. (A little background- The mother has lost custody of the older three children due to a separate negligence case against her, my mother-in-law has custody of her three older kids.) Is this child negligence or abandonment or do I have to prove that there was negligence in the home before? How long do I have to wait befoe I can file paperwork to get full physical custody? I want to take him to get his shots updated and a complete checkup. Any advice is welcomed!
