Default Marriage of a Pregnant Minor in Georgia

Me and my girlfriend want to get married (Male 18/Female 16) My girlfriend is pregnant. I am about to join the Military. We both reside in Ga. I will also be attending college during my term in the Military and will be making money to support my family, and I will be able to stay home after my basic training and during college to support my family. The major problem is, we cannot marry without parental consent or a court order. Her mother is THICKheaded. Her mother gets just under $600 a month for her dead husbands insurance. She does not have a job and she can barely support her family and still refuses to get a job. Also, her mother is always in trouble with the state law and and financial problems are very, very common. If I marry her, I will get much more family support added than the $600 for her being married to me. So if we wanted to go to court and get a court order for marriage, how will we go about doing this? And if we both tell the judge, that it would be better for us, then would this be enough for the judge to give us an order for marriage in the state of Ga. Even if you dont know if this is efficient, please provide as much info as you can.

Georgia recently amended its laws relating to the marriage of minors. It appears from that news article that parental consent is now required even where a female minor is pregnant; but you can check with your county clerk to see what the exact current requirements are.

    Hi, Mr. Knowitall

I was out of town and had 'Random555' post this for me. The article you referred to, I have already read. I wanted to supply so much info so that I could figure this out *asap, since I leave for basic training in a few weeks. I know that she requires parental consent, but in a previous post (in which you also included this article) there was mention of a court order. Do you beleive (won't hold it against you) the info would be sufficient? (refer to beginning of this thread). Whether you do or not, how would I get an appt. in a court? Roughly how much would it cost??? I know its alot to read but, reading my first post thoroughly will help to understand my plea better...PLZ

    you right Mr.Fxston ,

I previously asked on another post about the running to another state thing, but I was told that if I did, the mother could press charges and negate the marriage.
To both of you, I do not intend to create tension between the two of you or anyone else. God knows that I deal with plenty of tension and stress in many areas even not dealing with this problem. I am just trying to get help b4 its too late. Thank you both for the time, work, and knowlege you offer here.

So how about: How so I get a date with the judge. (About how much $ should i take???)

The County Clerk at the courthouse may be able to explain local procedure, and will be able to inform you of the filing fees.
