Probably none. However, if it is something that affects the value of the unit or affects you in some direct way, then you might have grounds for a civil action, but recovery would be a real uncertainity and I doubt any lawyer would take it on a contigency. If you pay, you could actually end up with less damages awarded than the civil action cost you. I have seen this happen many times.
The legal powers of an HOA is governed and limited by the CC&R's, and I cannot read those of your HOAfrom here.
At the condos where I lived an rent out, the HOA's have imposed fines on people who violated the condo's rules, and has the power to place liens if not paid. As far as I know, condo owners have deeds to their properties, and I know of no CC&R's that allows for forfeiture, though the government has in many cases done so.
As to excercsing "ethical" obligations, you are treading on very dangerous territory here, and for a "legal" forum such as this, we should stick to legal obligations. Often, people who feels they can excercise "ethical" obligations find themselves sued for violation of rights, so I wouldn't even go there.
