Doctor's Office with No Directory

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York

We are a group of 5 doctors in midtown, who moved our office into the floor of a building. All of the other tenants on that floor are doctors. The rest of the building is other businesses. All of the other doctors on our floor have their names listed on the directory in the lobby. Our landlord has not put our name on the directory which is confusing for the patients. Our landlord has told us that she would put the name on the directory as soon as possible. Every month we request it, every month she says it is coming. A year has gone by. We now complained formally in writing, and she says "it is not in our contract to have the name in the directory". But all of the other doctors have their name in the directory.

well, if it isn't in your contract, then what basis do you claim gives you the right to demand you names be put in the directory.

as to the other doctors having their names in the directory; not that it really matters but maybe it's in their contract.

Maybe you should ask how to have your names put in the directory. Generally, money gets things done. Try asking if there is some fee for having your names in the directory.

Understood. The crazy thing is, of course when we looked at the space the lady showing us the office said "and this is where your practice name will be"

We never thought , givin it is a medical office, that the names would not be there. in fact, she told us every month that she was working on it. so even she felt like it should be there. but now that we filled a complaint in the form of a letter to the landlord, she said, "well we dont have to put it there"

It seems like that is what is wrong with the country. People used to do deals on a handshake.

I would have assumed the same thing myself. Without mentioning money outright, I would simply ask what it would take to get your names put in the directory.
