My question involves a child custody case from the State of: NC
My ex-fiance and I lived together for 3 1/2 years and have a 3 year old daughter. We never married.
We separated 11 months ago and during that time my daughter has stayed with me 80% of the time (documented). My ex and I had been mostly amicable as we had the stated goal of trying to work things out. She also has chronic headaches that often leave her dibilitated so our daughter staying with me also helped with that (and was often the direct cause of it). My daughter and I spend a great deal of one on one time together and enjoy many activities together (also documented). I have provided her health care since the day she was born and still do.
Out of nowhere about a week ago she emphatically informed me it was over and all attempts at trying were over and cut off communication with me completely other than email (only what she wants to send over, no replies). She sent over a physical custody arrangment and asked that I sign that delegates equal time now for my daughter here and there. I fear she may attempt to take her from me altogether. I have no delusions about keeping my daughter from her mother, nor do I want that in any way. I just do NOT want for the division of time to suddenly change from what it has been for virtually one full year and my daughter is thriving, happy, and healthy. Do I have any rights?? What should I do? Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.
