My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: NJ. I was driving North on 4 lane road in a major shopping district and needed to turn left. Normally I am driving south on this same road and I knew there are two entrances into the shopping center when driving South. I was driving carefully, looking for the 2nd entrance, I turned on my turn signal, looked out for traffic, moved into the left lane, and proceeded with caution to turn into the plaza.
After I committed to the turn, I did notice that there was a "t-bone" shaped cement divider and thought it made my turn difficult, but proceeded not giving it a second thought. One block later, a policeman stopped me and issued me a $140 ticket with 3 points. He told me there was no left turn sign, but i did not see it or I would have never made the turn.
I have not had a violation in over 20 years and not a traffic accident in 15 years. Can I contest this violation? I find it a bit extreme.
