Re: Why Fine of No Insurance Not Completely Dismissed

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Nevada. In October my mother received a traffic ticket for failure to yield to school bus with lights flashing. She also received a fine for no proof of insurance. I gave the ticket to a ticket fixer service here in Las Vegas and I was told that the school bus fine was reduced to $382 and the No proof of insurance was reduced to $182. Now my mother had insurance card showing her insurance was up to date, it just wasn't in the car at the time of the ticket. I gave this Proof of insurance card to the ticket fixer company, and asked them why the No proof fine was not dismissed completely. They said oh, the judge must of been having a bad day. I am furious. I thought that once you show that you have proof of insurance, the fine would be dismissed. My mother is 78 yrs old and never even had a ticket before. I agree with the bus fine, but this insurance ticket seems very excessive. They told me the total fine was $1000 for both offenses. It seems to me an attorney should be able to get a judge to dismiss No proof fine down to nothing. Did they even get the fines reduced, since when I got my no proof insurance ticket a while back, it was $800 and I paid nothing once I showed proof of Insurance. Thank you, Shorty7ft
It is possible that the code section she was cited for requires her to provide valid proof of insurance at the time of the stop and failing to do so would be in violation of such requirement! Also keep in mind that a "fine reduction" would typically mean that the defendant was found "guilty" of the offense charged, and while one judge might reduce it to $182, another judge might reduce it to $zero (as in a "suspended sentence").
I am right 97% of the time... Who cares about the other 4%!
