Honestly, anything other than writing "I stand by my plea of not guilty" on your declaration won't do you any good for reasons that have been discussed to death on the traffic section of this forum. Unless your attorney friend specializes in CA traffic law, I would suggest heeding that advice.
On the other hand, if your lawyer has a good working relationship with the exact court where your case is assigned to, the absolute best advice I can give you is to give him/her a call, let them find out what your options are, and take it from there.
i dont know if this will help but i went the same route today and the officer wrote the speed limit as 30mph (w/ safe speed of 30) when in fact the whole stretch of road has a 35mph limit... question of accuracy/subjectivity of the officers observation?
Conditions of the roadway, visibility, etc. Officers are allowed to write speeding tickets with a safe speed which are lower that the posted limits. If it helps, you can think fog or snow.
