Roommate Has Announced Leaving and Leaving the Rent to Myself

My question involves a roommate in the District of Columbia.
My wife and I live with a roommate that has announced that she will be leaving to another state, and that she will no longer be paying rent. This roommate has not found a suitable replacement and has told us it will be our problem. I want to take the roommate to court, but am unsure where to start. By the way, her name IS on the lease.
