Default Mother Doesn't Want Anything To Do With the Biological Father
Help! I need some advice. I just wanted to make sure that I am going about this the right way. My boyfriend (of 3 years) and I got pregnant May 2004 in Davenport, Iowa. I found out in October 2004 that he had gotten a 17 year-old girl pregnant in August. Keep in mind he is 26. I am 23 just for the record. I moved all of my stuff back home (Chicago) and haven't talked to him since I found out. I haven't changed my phone number, but I have moved so he doesn't know my new address. I don't want anything to do with him. I didn't put his name on the birth certificate and I don't want any child support from him and of course he doesn't want to pay seeing how he doesn't have a job. He has yet to pay one dime for anything. He doesn't want to put forth the money for a paternity test. I don't answer the phone when he calls and I don't respond to his emails. Can this be held against me should he ever take me to court? He is a horrible influence and don't want him to influence my child in any way. It's already May 2005 and he hasn't made an effort to get a lawyer or have a paternity test taken. I need to know if I am in the wrong. Please help!!! ~S

Default Mom Doesn't Want To Have Anything To Do With Father
If he brings a paternity action, deliberate efforts to block his forming a relationship with the child could conceivably be held against you by a court.

You may wish to consult a local lawyer about initiating a paternity proceeding, and the likelihood that parenting time would be awarded in the event that your ex- requested it.
