Unemployment Following Long Term Disability

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Arizona

Hi, hoping someone will be able to give me some information on unemployment benefits in AZ.

In August 2008 I was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast Cancer. At the time I worked for a city in Maricopa county as a supervisor in the court. I worked for a while during treatment but ultimately it was too much so on November 21st I officially went out on Long Term Disability. I had to undergo multiple rounds of Chemotherapy, 6 surgeries and radiation and it has taken alot for my body to get back to its pre-ill self.
When I went out on Medical disability for such an extended period of time my job went away.
I received my last LTD payment in August and am waiting for their final determination that I am no longer eligible for benefits as I am now able to work. SO the search for a job begins...
While I am searching since I no longer have disability financial resources am I able to file a claim for unemployment.

I don't know the specific guidelines for UI but generally you have to have income in the last 4 or 5 quarters to be able to qualify. Unless Arizona has something that would allow your previous earnings to be included, chances are you will not be eligible. The only such exception I found was for a person that was not working due to a work related injury.
