Am I Responsible for a New Owner Who Did Not Transfer a Title

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: CA

We sold our car on 8/28/2010. We received a ticket for a ran toll dated 9/8/2010. We did our part and sent in the top portion of the title to the DMV. If the new owners do not transfer the title, are we responsible for anything that happens after we sold it?

Apparently you also did not file the Release of Liability, either.

You may be stuck for this particular cite, unfortunately. But, you can always take the new owners to small claims court to make them pay for it if you choose.

You can always challenge the citation, explain the situation and bring in the bill of sale to the hearing panel or officer, and then HOPE they cut you a break though they do not have to.
