Support When Each Parent Has Custody of 1 Child

My question involves child support in the State of: ohio

I have custody of one child and my ex has custody of the other. (in general) How does the CSEA handle the support amount in this type of situation?

I make twice as much as my ex & I am paying the insurance.
I also have an existing order in another state.
I also have another yet child of mine living with me

Well, you have a ton of complications.

But in general, they can figure out separate support schedules for you w/one child, and one for the other parent w/one child -- then split the difference. So if it shows parent 1 would receive $400 a month and also would pay $600 a month, then parent 1 would only pay $200 a month.

In our case, we made each parent responsible for carrying health insurance on the children.

In your case, if you already pay for ins for all those kids, then you would get that credit on the support schedule.

I can tell you how my husband and his ex managed it, for what it's worth.

When my stepdaughter came to live with her father, he paid support to his ex (1/2 the amount he'd been paying when both kids lived with her) and she provided insurance for both kids and for my husband. (Under state law, when we married she dropped coverage on my husband.) They split college costs - she paid a larger share since my husband's work is seasonal. He paid CS until the child who lived with their mother graduated from college.

Much of this was set up before I came on the scene so I'm not sure how much of this was court ordered and how much of it they decided between them, but that's how they did it.

No, it's not going to be that easy.

For one thing, they will be two separate actions.

You need an attorney.
