My question involves vehicle maintenance laws for the State of: Virginia
I received a ticket for "failure to display both license plates" in what looks like section 87.33 of VA law (I only got the carbon copy so I can't make it out for sure).
Is this something that I can correct by going in and showing the court a picture of the plate attached to the car? Or would they still assess the fines and court costs? I live maybe 10 minutes away from the court so going there wouldn't be much of a hassle.
If it would be wise to appear in court, how should I go about trying to get it reduced? Should I talk to a "prosecutor" beforehand, or do I plead guilty/not guilty and then ask for it to be reduced/dissmissed? I've never been to traffic court before so any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you.
