Does it do any good to contact someone's probation officer?

I had a girlfriend staying with me that is on Federal probation for theft of government money. During the 4 months she was with me I discovered she had charged over $3000 on my credit card so I told her she needed to move out. She moved when I wasnt home and brought her ex husband into my house to help her move and they took stuff that wasnt theirs and intentionally damaged some of my stuff. Of course the police wont do anything as they say its a civil matter, so I was thinking of writing a letter to her probation officer. I have proof of what she has done but without charges would this have any effect? I recently found out she was doing cocaine while she was here which would show up on a hair follicle test, but I really don't want to be vindictive, but I do think she needs to be responsible for what she did. Would I be wasting my time?

Talk to her probation officer and see what he has to say. However, if it is a civil matter, they will likely see it the same way. Unless she has violated a term of her probation, it is doubtful that they will be able to do anything to her either.
