Expungment - Unable to Find Record of Conviction

My question involves criminal records for the state of: California
I am trying to expunge a 38 year old conviction (felony?) and am unable to get the details needed to file a PC 17(b) petition to get the felony reduced, if necessary, and a PC 1203.4 petition for expungement. The court has no records (despite my paying for an archive search) and neither the probation dept. or DA does either. Any suggestions? Will the court accept petitions with incomplete data? I'm at a loss as to the best course of action to take.

The information you need isn't available from your DOJ criminal record? Can you get formal statements from the various agencies involved, that your court file and records cannot be located, to submit along with your petitions? If you ultimately cannot obtain the information, it appears that you'll have to give it a try.
