Default Tennessee Driver's License Points for an Out-of-State Ticket

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of Virginia.
I was stopped on I-81 in Virginia and ticketed for going 80 in a 65. I have a Tennessee drivers license. This is my first ticket in 40 years of driving. If I plead nolo contendere and pay the fine, will I get points on my Tennessee license? Will this cause my insurance rates to increase? thanks

I don't see an official answer on the DMV website, but I would expect Tennessee to accept an abstract of your ticket and to assign points consistent with the state's schedule. Call the DMV to confirm.

Whether or not a traffic violation will affect your insurance rates depends upon the policies of your insurance company. Talk to your agent.
