Default Student with F-1 Visa Working Without Authorization

    Hello.
A very good friend of mine was working the whole summer at a place without authorisation.
She was caught yesterday by the ICE and i havent heard from her yet. What are the chances her visa not being revoked and herself not being deported?

Her financial status the last year was really bad and she needed that work very much.
DO you think she has any chances staying in the US till her studies are finished? She only needs one semester and she is done.
Are there gonna press charges against her and she will have to go to the court?
Thank you for your help in advance

    She needs an attorney, ASAP.

There is a good chance that her visa will be revoked and she will be subject to deportation proceedings.

I really dont know if she could afford one.IS there a chance she can get a "pro bono" attorney?Or one appointed to her by court?
I really dont know much about your laws.
Is she being detained till things are clear or what?

She will likely be detained until the deportation hearing; if she has an attorney she MAY be able to get out before then but chances are not good even with an attorney.

There is no right to a court-appointed attorney for deportation hearings. She'll need to find either pro-bono counsel (this is where you can start researching for her) in her State, or find the money to hire one herself.

The money she's earned will likely not be confiscated however it may - and I'm not being facetious - be used to purchase her return ticket home.

People detained for immigration violations do not have the absolute right to have contact with friends and relatives.

I must ask you though - are you sure she was actually detained?

    What's your relationship to her?

I dont know if she detained or not.Im just asking .
Cause i havent heard anything from her for 2 days and im worried. We are friends.
Well maybe something more.I met her 2 years ago in Holland where i live and she went to the US for studies. She would come back this winter. We kept contact on internet.
Is there no chance letthing her finish her last semester and then deport her?

How do you know she was caught by ICE?

(I hate to pry - but I have a feeling you may be on a wild goose chase...)

If she has genuinely been detained, there is virtually no chance that she will be able to remain and study in the US to complete the semester.

    I dont know 100%
What i do know is that she told me she had a fight with a friend of hers and she threatened her that she would report her to the immigration services cause she knew she was with an F-1 visa.
I just dont want anything to happen to her cause she suffered alot this year.

Then all I can really do is suggest you try not to worry.

There's nothing you can do about anything at this point, and honestly I doubt that she's actually been investigated and detained based upon a (seemingly?) recent argument with a friend.

If you find out further information, feel free to come back to the thread.
