Re: Charged of Possession of Stolen Property
Have you been charged? If so, what is the statute under which you have been charged?
If pursuant to 13-802 this could be a 5th or 6th degree felony depending on the exact value of the property. Based upon a short scan of the penalties and depending on which offense it is, you could go to prison for a low end of 1/2 to 3/4 of a year or 1 1/2 to 2 years at the higher end absent some aggravating factors.
It is the code section(s) that indicate your potential penalty. Probation on a first offense is not unheard of, but the DA might want you to testify against the person or people that provided you with the item in order to avoid jail or prison time.
If you have been charged - or expect to be - consult legal counsel ASAP.
