My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of:
I received unemployment last year and had to go through a hearing over the phone with my employer and a hearing officer because the employer appealed my request. To make this short, I lost (wrongfully) and was charged the unemployment money I received. I didn't have a job since then until 2 weeks ago because I became a full time student at my local college and decided to get this job only for a month to help me pay some bills I had before school starts again. After two weeks, I receive a letter saying that they are aware I am working and expect full payment or they will "start notice of assessment action against you". I was planning to quit in 2 weeks. I want to dedicate myself to school only but I'm concerned. If I quit- will they hold the balance due until the next time I work? Or, do I have to work just to pay this off? This is Texas by the way. Hopefully someone can help! Thanks.
