My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas.
I am currently serving 6 months probation for a DWI offense through Bexar County, TX. I made both my probation officer and the judge who handled my case aware during my hearing that I had plans to leave the country at the end of August. Though my offense occurred in Texas, I live in New Mexico, and have been serving my probation from my home state by means of reporting by mail once a month. However, this means I have had very little contact with my probation officer, who has not exactly made himself either available or helpful. I am set to leave in three weeks for Europe, but am unsure of what other steps I must take in order to ensure that the process goes smoothly. I have paid off all my fines and court fees and have completed all other requirements with the exception of my continuing ignition interlock device and weekly AA meetings. What should my next steps be in the coming weeks before my departure? Thanks for any help you can provide.
