U.S. Mom Hunting for Dad in Europe

My question involves paternity law for the State of: New Mexico (?)

My 6yo's dad and I were never married and he is not listed on my son's birth certificate. He has verbally and in writing acknowledged his paternity. He is not a U.S. citizen and was here on a work visa when we were together. I'd like to establish legal paternity and petition for support. He was out of the country the last time we communicated and now I don't know where he is.
Where do I start with this? Is there some way I can have his passport "hot listed" to prevent him from getting a US visa if he applies (if he's not back in the US already)?

On what grounds do you believe he should be prevented from obtaining a visa?

There's no easy way to find a single person in an entire continent. You could consider using a private investigator.

I don't want him barred from travel in the US, I really want to be alerted if he is here or planning to come so that I can track him down. I figure it will be easier to find him in one country versus all of Europe.

Unfortunately you have no standing to make such a request; neither the State Dept nor USCIS will alert you should your ex apply for or obtain a visa.

I second the idea of hiring a PI but you must weigh this carefully because it will not be cheap, it will be time-consuming and there's every chance that even should you find, serve and have him established as Dad that you'll never see a cent of child support.
