My question involves personal property located in the State of: Maryland
A little less than a year ago we let my brother-in-law and his wife move into our house, since they were in a bad position, to basically get their finances together and then move on. After about six months, they stopped paying the rent we had agreed upon (orally) as well as their share of the utilities. We had to hound them to pay anything.
One month ago, after an acrimonious situation developed, they moved out. They began moving their stuff out that day and continued for about the next week. Since then, nothing has moved. We cleaned the room and moved what was left there to the garage so we could work on the room. They also left a good deal of other belongings around the house and have made no attempt to get them out although they said that they would. It has been three weeks since we last saw them and all we get are excuses or they just don't show up. They also have some sets of keys.
We have written them a letter indicating that they need to have it out in two weeks (we haven't been charging them rent or storage since they left) but what recourse do we have after that?
Thanks!
