    Default Can You Drop the Charges on Grand Larceny

    My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia
    Can you drop the charges?

    Are you the victim? The only person that can drop charges once they are filed is the prosecutor, the exception being the court dismissing them for some reason. You can try speaking to the prosecutor to see if they will reduce or drop the charges, but don't hold your breath.

    This is just a question for my law homework. Like can the person who was robbed dropped the charges if he/she chooses to do so for whatever reason?
