Default Does a Suspended Sentence Go On Your Criminal Record

I was arrested for shoplifting in MO. I had my court date and since it was my first time ever (and last) for something like this, I got a suspended imposition of sentence.
One year unsupervised probation, and my lawyer said, "and it won't go on your record." I was really relieved at this, but now after a few days it just got me wondering what exactly that meant.

    1) Will I still want to try to have it expunged, or is it not even necessary, based on what he said?

    2) Would it show up on a background check when applying for a job?

    3) If so, what if I could get it expunged? Would it show up on a background check then?

By Missouri law, records of closed criminal cases where the defendant was not "convicted" are not public records and generally cannot be disclosed, except in limited circumstances as set out by law. As such, once an SIS (suspended imposition of sentence) case is completed (closed) by the defendant successfully finishing probation, the court record no longer remains a public record, because the defendant was never "convicted" of the crime to which he plead guilty.

    Default My Sentence

I was arrested for shoplifting in MO. At my court date, I got a suspended imposition of sentence. One year unsupervised probation and have to attend a class on shoplifting.

My lawyer said, "one year probation and it won't go on your record."

    So....
    1) Does that mean that after a year is up, I don't need to worry about filing for expungement if I want it off of my record?

    2) Does this mean that it won't appear on a background check if I apply for a job?

It should be sealed after year and then you won't have any convictions, they're always a small chance something can pop up.
