Child Suport for Minors With a Parent in Prison

Father of kids is going to prison. Ex wife says someone mentioned there is a way for children of incarcerated to get support. Does anyone know anything about this?
Would they be covered under victim's right compensation even though they were not the specific victims?

If we ask the hundreds of custodial parents about receiving support while the other parent is incarcerated, there's generally a resounding "We can't get a darned cent from that deadbeat!".

Basically, no.

There is no State provision to support the children of incarcerated parents. The also do not qualify for any victim's rights compensation unless they are actually the victims of the crime.

Any current child support orders will generally keep building up arrears.
