I rent a home with my family, and our lease will be up the end of this month. We are not renewing the lease, and have sent the proper paperwork/notice to our landlords.
Four months ago a 19yo family member moved out from our dwelling, leaving items behind. This family member was not listed on the lease, was not responsible to pay rent, and is an adult. That family member is no longer communicating with us. When they first left, we kept an open invitation that they could return or return for their things, provided we were home at the time. Within the first couple of weeks, they did return, took a few more things, but left much more. We have not had communication with them since. (Roughly 3.5 months have passed)
Our lease will be up in 15 days and I have no clue what to do with their things. I do not wish to take them with us. My only thought is to box them up, label them clearly and let the landlord sort it out. What *legally* am I responsible to do? When I look up FL state law, I can only find what to do on lease-roommate, spouse and ex-boy/girl friend situations.
