Default Trouble Having Case Law Examples of Home Burglaries by Home Inspectors

My question involves criminal law for the state of: ANY/ALL

Hello, I am doing research and I only have access to Lexis for the next week, I cannot seem to find ANY examples of criminal cases linked to the perp. posing as a home inspector. I am looking for cases where the perp. has stolen personal property.

I need as many examples and cases of this as possible. Please please if someone has any direction or help or cases for me let me know asap!

    Thank you!

There are probably hundreds of THOUSANDS of such cases of perps posing in some position where a homeowner grants them access. It really doesn't usually matter WHAT the person was posing AS. The problem is that unless some PRECIDENT was set in the case, you're not going to find it using a case law search. Case law comes about when some UNIQUE aspect of a case requires some new judicial guidance or application of law. Otherwise, it's just "another case". If you just want a big stack of cases where the modus operandi was "home inspector" related to a larceny, your best bet is going to be your local law enforcement agencies.

Exactly what is it that you're hoping to find from these prior cases?

    Thank you Catherine,
I work for an Association of Certified Home Inspectors and we are going to be adding Bonding as an option for our inspectors. This will protect the home owner up to 10K if the Inspector is convicted of theft while inspecting their home. We would like a link of cases where this has happened, (and this is my job), to reference the validity and importance of this service.
    Thank you for your help!

You may wish to train your home inspectors in the legal aspects of when inspector (or landlord/landlord rep) can enter the house.

Also, 10k seems to be too little; but then again the residents could file a civil suit to recover actual damages in excess of the posted bond.
