Hi my child is 21 and we just found her Father.. I did get Welfare for 5 years when my child was born. They tried to find him but couldn't, so they closed the file. Can I get back child support if I tell the DA we found him? I am in California.

If amounts have been accruing, the state may go after him if you notify them of his location. However, monies the state collects won't go to you, but to reimburse the taxpayers who fronted the welfare money. If THAT amount gets collected in full, THEN there may be payments to you for any additional amounts that MIGHT be owed.

Yup. The state will go after him for the monies they paid out on the child's behalf.
If you had a support order in place then you'll get what they collect after the state has received their share.

I gotta to ask.
With all the information that is provided on the internet:
We are talking $$$ thousands $$$ of reasons to find this person...and you couldn't find him until now? I have found people with very common first and last name using the internet.
Sorry...Just a little shocked that you just found someone that you have probably been looking for over the last 21 years. Or did you just decided to start looking? That would make sense to me.
You can kill this thread...I was just curious why it took so long to find him.
