    Default Proof of Rent Paid

My question involves small claims court in the state of: Wisconsin

What is the best way to prove that you paid rent every month?

My bank is being difficult about providing check photocopies, but I'm able to get back statements that show checks in the amount of rent specified on my lease being cashed every month.

Or what about a letter from my landlord stating that I did pay rent?

Also, this isn't the main focus of the case I need this for, but it would be helpful to be able to show that I wasn't, in fact, stiffing my landlord.

By getting a receipt each and every time you pay your rent.

Alternatively, an affidavit from your landlord, with a copy of his records showing when you paid and how much, will do.

There was a federal law passed several years ago .. the printed checks on your statement ARE proof of the check's authenticity..you dont need anything else nor do all banks provide them anymore. Its good, its bad. Its good cause the statements are more easily maintained than individual checks; its bad 'cause they are hard to read. Just make notations in the memo section in large print saying "RENT/Mo. of XXX"
