Can a Lawyer Represent an Insured Once the Lawyer Has Represented the Insurer

In Minnesota there is a government entity trying to make a legitimate claim from an insurance co. That government body is now represented by a law firm. The same firm that has in the past represented the insurance co that the government entity is making a claim from.

Is this ethical?

The fact that the insurance company has previously been represented by the firm does not, of itself, mean that there is a conflict of interest in the present case. Presumably the insurance company is aware of its past relationship with the firm, and it will know how to raise the issue of a conflict of interest if it believes one exists.
