If you need to file bankruptcy, chances are your credit score has tanked anyway.
Filing bankruptcy is actually considered a responsible move; yes, your credit is still going to suck for a quite a while after discharge but most people are able to obtain car loans etc (at more reasonable interest rates) within a couple of years.
