My question involves towing laws for the State of: California
My car was towed from my assigned parking lot in my apartment complex garage. I made a mistake by parking over my line and took some space off the next stall and the next morning, the car is gone! There had been no warning or tickets and I had to call the police to know my car was towed.
There are no towing warning signs in the garage and the management never authorized the towing. ( In fact they never tow and they are very surprised by it) It is apparent the person owning the lot next to me freaked out and called the towing company and let the truck in (since our garage is locked).
So my question is, does the tenant has the authority to tow any cars in a private property? The towing company was very defensive and refused to tell me who called. They only provided me with a simple form filled out by the person who called towing(no name provided) The form simply says " I am unable to park on my spot." And I am very sure that management/owner of the apt never authorized the towing, nor there are any warning signs.
