Default Parental Rights Terminated Involuntarily in Florida

My question involves paternity law for the State of: Florida

My ex girlfriend and I had a child born out wedlock. Before the child was born we broke up, I had to go to court to establish paternity ( I was listed as the father on her birth certificate) after the child was born because the mother would not allow me to see the baby. We were set up for mediation because the mother would not allow me visitation after the judge ordered it. She would not show up for any hearings so the Judge place a warrant for Competent of court. After this she fled the state with the child. For the last 15 years I have looked for her. I just found her on My Space and she called me told me that she had my rights terminated and I had no rights to her. I have been looking for my daughter for the last 15 years now I find her mother and now my rights have been terminated I did not know! Is there any thing I can do?

If your rights have been terminated by the courts then she's no longer your daughter.

What exactly have you done during the last 15 years?

I tried to search for the mother. She absconded with her against court order in Florida. I do not think the courts where she had my rights terminated knew she had fled Florida and they were looking for her.

Don't EVER take the word of an ex who has been hiding your child that your rights have been terminated. Until you've got something in writing from the court that confirms it, I'd take it as a bold faced lie designed to keep you out of the picture. Start by contacting the Clerk of Court in the county where she was living and FIND OUT from the horse's mouth if in fact your rights have actually been terminated.

If this is true is there anything I will be able to do about it?

Only if you were not properly served.

Honestly - I strongly recommend you have a chat with a local attorney.

I have never seen anything from any court concerning Terminating my paternal rights. I did search the public records in county where she resides in Texas and Florida, but I never found anything. I am wondering where she did this now.

She probably didn't, and is hoping that you're too stupid to get an attorney and call her bluff.

    So go get an attorney.
