if a person flys over here, then they would have to go through customs, when they go through custom and customs ask them what is their purpose for their trip and they say visiting a relative, is that possible without a visa or even a passport, if it is, if they didn't go back could they file to stay here legally. to come here from another country a person would have to show some kind of ID before customs would let them in right?

Whether or not you would need a visa to enter the U.S. depends upn your country of origin, and whether you are otherwise excluded from entering due to your past actions.

If you are asking if it is possible to gain entry to the U.S. if you force customs to detain and deport you, I guess so... although you may well be incarcerated for the duration of your stay in the U.S., pending deportation.
