My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Florida. Recently while on the job delivering publications in the company van (I make frequent multiple stops) I was pulled over and cited for not wearing a seat belt. After researching the law/fine online, I learned the fine is $30, not to exceed $60 with additional legal asessments. The officer wrote the fine up as $123. After calling the Tallahassee Clerk of Courts as to why the triple fine ammount, I was told it was because of additional "city assements." As I am currently unemployed, I cannot afford this kind of money, and am going to request a court date to dispute the ammount. Do I have a legal leg to stand on here?
