How to Get Back Pay, Not Paid

i worked for an employer for over a year.he kept promising to pay but wouldnt pay all of the wages he promised he would.what recourse do i have since i no longer work for that employer?

what if you live in a differnt state than the state you where employed at.

like me I live in Alabama however I worked for a co. in Virginia? where would I file a claim?

stevenf, you generally would file in the state in which you physically worked. However, Alabama does not have a DOL with this mandate, so you would have to file with the federal Dept. of Labor.

OP, there are a few states that have no wage and hour laws of their own and thus no enforcement mandate. If you don't name your state, we can't tell you if your state is one of those or not.
