Check Deposited After Other Arrangements Were Made

My question involves business law in the state of: La. My question is about a check i wrote for work performed by a subcontracter.i was short by 200.00 dollars i made arrangment with him had him sign a lein waver after i made good on it two days later.he then cashed bounced check two months later.my bank cashed for cash now im out 3500.00 what are my options

Learn your lesson doing business in such a sloppy manner.

You should have gotten the check back when you paid. You should have gotten something in writing confirming payment and requiring return of the check.

If you can prove your case, you need to sue in small claims court.

If you can't prove your case, that is another example of the sloppy manner in which you do business, and you eat the 3500.

Why didn't you require the return of the physical check, or stop payment on the check, after you paid?

Your most obvious remedy now would be to try to recover the money in small claims court.
